In September 2020 I reported, in ‘The Serpent Callls’, on a collaboration between electronic composer Rutger Zuydervelt, who records as Machinefabriek, and Berlinde Deman, who plays the sonorous medieval instrument the serpent.
Now the two have released a digital EP of eight short improvisations, ‘Stuutjes’, with all proceeds going to Save the Children. It is another wonderfully haunting encounter between ancient and modern, eerie, desolate electronics and the primeval bellowing of the fabulous beast.
